The Bonnet Carre Spillway in Norco, Louisiana protects New Orleans from flood waters of the Mississippi River by controlling the rivers flow will be opened by The Army Corps of Engineers on May 9th . The Spillway was built after the 1927 flood and is only opened when the river gets dangerously high.///Water cascades over the top of the Bonnet Carre Spillway from the dangerously high Mississippi River that is causing flooding in Memphis Tennessee and other areas along the rivers banks.
