Fish Kill After BP oilspill05.jpg
Man collecting samples from the third reported fish kill in Plaquimines Parish's Bayou Robinson following the BP oil disaster, so tests can be done to see if it is tide to the Spill. The predominant species found floating on the surface were menhaden, also called pogie, mixed with crab and catfish. Fish kills in Louisiana along the Gulf Coast are a common occurrence at the end of the summer however their frequency and scale the summer of the oil disaster are unprecedented and until testing is done it is not possible to rule out rule out oil or dispersant factoring into the cause of low oxygen levels in the water that suffocates the fish.
