March 31, 2015, Five years after the BP oil spill, Cat Island, a barrier island in Plaquemines Parish, that was home to a bird rookery before before the BP oil spill, has all but eroded away.
The island was hit heavily with oil from the BP oil spill. Roots of mangrove trees can be seen at lowtide.
