1-244 Air Helicopter Battalion ( part of the 34th Air Brigade) is made up of companies from the Louisiana and Florida National guards. They conduct air assault and air movement operation including acting as a taxi service around Baghdad flying a ring around the bases before returning to their hub in Balad. It cost $6000 an hour to operate a blackhawk, so it isn't the most cost effective way to get around but it is the safest.
