Graveyard across the street from oil tanks at the St. James Strategic Petroleum Reserve Terminal connected to Bayou Choctaw, one of four sites on the Gulf of Mexico, each located near a major center of petrochemical refining and processing, in this case Baton Rouge. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) is an emergency fuel store of oil maintained by the United States Department of Energy and is located across from the Mississippi River in the stretch between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, is part of a large concentration of chemical and oil companies that was formerly referred to as the "Petrochemical Corridor," but now is know as "Cancer Alley." Many cases of cancer have occurred in communities on both sides of the river though the Louisiana Tumor Registry claims the numbers are not higher then the national average.
