Russel DarDar, a Pointe- au-Chien Indian, Tribe monitors the oil that remains on the shore of the marsh in Lake Raccourci washed up after the BP oil spill began when the Mandaceno well exploded. BP decided not to clean the oil from the marshes near Pointe-au-Chien after concluding it would do more damage to the marsh then good.
The Indians in Pointe-au-Chein tribe has been have been impacted by the oil disaster since many are fishermen and it remains unclear what the long-term effects of the oil and the dispersant will have on the ecological system.
