A vent put in near the sinkhole in Bayou Corne in the area Texas Brine leases, used to vent natural gas that has gotten into the aquifer after the sinkhole opened up. When the Bayou Corne sinkhole opened up on August 3, 2012 a mandatory evacuation was called and many of the towns residents left. Texas Brine drilled too close too the edge of a salt mine causing it to collapse and cause an industrial disaster.
