July 3, 2013, Pierre Part Louisiana, General Honoré addresses members of the Bayou Corne community whose lives have been affected by the sinkhole caused by the Texas Brine corporation. On August 4, 2012 a sinkhole opened up over Texas Brine run salt mine resulting in a mandatory evacuation of the town. The fate of the community and environmental implications of the sinkhole have yet to be determined.
