Shell refinery located in the stretch between Baton Rouge and New Orleans along the Mississippi River that has a large concentration of chemical companies and refineries referred to as the "petrochemical corridor" by industry and "cancer alley"by locals due to the high number of illness related to pollutants associated with the refineries and petrochemical plants. The Shell refinery formerly owned by Motiva will be closed by Shell.
