Hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking”, is the process of drilling and injecting fluid into the ground at a high pressure in order to fracture shale rocks to release natural gas underground.

In Denton there is a 1200 foot set back rule for drill sites except for sites that are exempt including two owner by EagleRidge Energy that are on either side of a subdivision at Bonnie Brea Street and Vintage Boulevard. <br />
The citizens in Denton are trying to pass an initiative that would ban fracking in the city completely.

  • Barbara Brown with drugs she takes for health issues she developed after the fracking industry developed near her home n Reno Texas. She lives less the 1/4 mile from a d fracking site, and a wastewater disposal site. Her home has been damaged be an earthquake swarm that started rattling the ground in November 2013 shortly aft re the disposal plant began operation.Her doctors told her all the toxins have made her ill.

The Barnett Shale,  which Denton sits on top of,  is rich with natural gas and has experienced a boom from hydraulic fracturing.

On November 4th, 2014 citizens in Denton passed a ban for fracking with in the city limits despite being out spent by those against the ban by ten to one beofre the election,<br />
The Barnett Shale,  which Denton sits on top of,  is rich with natural gas and has experienced a boom from hydraulic fracturing.
