Bambi Bardo with her uncle Sydney Verdin, both Pointe-au-Chien Indians living in Pointe aux Chene has been a shrimper his who life until he had a stroke in 2003 in his living room. His families livelihoods are all based on fishing. Shrimp and crab season was canceled on May 29th when oil and dispersant made it into the nearby waters. Sydney is trying to get BP to pay for workers to boom of the area around the marsh where his ancestral graveyard is located on Bayou Pointe-au-Chien. Sydney's daughter Grace Welch lives next door and helps care for the families many grand children. They live in a raised house that sustained damage in Katrina and Gustav and are no strangers to tragedy.
