Police checking guns to see if they are in working condition at a New Orleans at a gun buyback event called for by New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell. The line started at 5:30. Only 200 of the more than 1000 people who turned out were able to claim the $500 offered for any gun in working condition turned in. When the Mayor first announced the buyback program no limits were put on how many guns you could bring in for $500. That was changed to $500 maximum payout to any one who could prove residency in Orleans Parish.
