Fishkill in A Louisiana Bayou.jpg
Fish Kill in a bayou off the Pearl River in St. Tammany Parish Louisiana caused by a sdischarge from the Temple-Inland paper mill in Bogalusa that was made up of a mixture of pulp and unspecified chemicals that turned the river black killing fish, shellfish and turtles along 40 miles of the river. The chemicals released into the river depleted oxygen levels which caused the fish kill in the river and its' many tributaries. Clean-up crews were dispatched to remove the dead fish before they sink depleting the waterway of more oxygen causing an even larger environmental disaster.
